Instacart Business Will Be a Curated Online Marketplace For Small Businesses

By Mark Drapeau

Tech news site The Information is reporting that popular delivery company Instacart is planning to launch a version of its site tailored to small businesses. This “Instacart Business” offering would display a “curated selection of items such as office supplies, cleaning products and snacks,” the person said according to The Information. Such a launch would also increase competition in the online marketplace space for small business retailers, where platforms such as Amazon.com, Etsy, eBay, and Walmart+ are already quite popular, as found in DCI’s own “Super Selling” research on small- and medium-sized business (SMB) sales methods, and our follow up work on how rural SMBs sell. Instacart has not set a launch date yet and the company is still finalizing parts of the product, according to The Information.
