President

Dr. Mark Drapeau

Dr. Mark Drapeau is the President of the Data Catalyst Institute, where he was previously Editor In Chief from 2021-2026 and Head of Research from 2019-2021. He is also Co-Founder of Drapeau Yaeger and Founding Partner of Veleonis, a corporate affairs firm. Previously, he was Partner and Chief Research Officer at RXN Group, a research and public affairs firm, and before that held various research and strategy roles at the Developers Alliance, Atlantic Media, Microsoft, and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Dr. Drapeau holds a B.S. with research honors from the University of Rochester, a Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, both in Biology, and conducted his NIH postdoctoral fellowship at New York University’s Center for Developmental Genetics and Center for Genomics and Systems Biology.

He has published research and writing spanning science, technology, business, policy, and culture in both peer-reviewed and popular outlets including Science, Nature, Genetics, Evolution, Genome Research, Journal of Neurobiology, Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, Defense Horizons, Defense & Technology Papers, Fletcher Forum of World Affairs, New York Times, PBS MediaShift, Washington Times, Fortune, Forbes, RealClearMarkets, Fast Company, Mashable, and Federal Computer Week, and he is the co-editor of the book Bio-Inspired Innovation and National Security (National Defense University, 2010).
