John’s area of expertise lays in the intersection of law, policy, politics, data and privacy.
He has held General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer roles since 2000 when he joined Systems Research and Development (SRD). SRD was acquired in 2006 by IBM, and he continued on with IBM as IBM Software Group’s Privacy Strategist. While at IBM, he worked on policy and legal matters relating to groundbreaking selective anonymization software, which was the subject of a paper authored by Data Catalyst Advisor Ann Cavoukian and Jeff Jonas, an internationally recognized thought leader in Big Data and the CEO of Senzing.
